What are the ways to check the vehicle?
Does the ‘vehicle identification number’ (VIN), engine number and colour match those present on the V5C? Make sure there is no sign of change or alteration.
- Does the number plate and the registration number mentioned on the V5C match each other.
- Is the registration number or VIN number imprinted on the glass? If yes, they must match those on the V5C and all other etched glass on the vehicle. Make sure they haven’t been altered or coated by tags or stickers.
- Do all the locks present in the vehicle open with the same key? Plus, does the seller have a spare key too?- in case the first one gets lost.
- Check locks to make sure that key haven't been forcefully inserted into the locks or locks haven't been renovated.
A little piece of advice:
Keep in mind, purchasing or not purchasing the car is totally up to you, because its your money and your decision. You must be satisfied enough to buy, if you’re not sure, just don't go for it or carry out more research about it if you think you need to, but still, you always have the option of going for another vehicle. More than everything – trust your inner intuitions! If your heart says yes, then it's a yes- however, if you have the slightest doubts, rethink it.
