Not sure if you have a DOC? Don't drive
In order to avoid troubles, before you drive a car, it is necessary to be totally sure about having a DOC which can be done through 2 things :
1)Make sure you check your motor insurance certificate to find out if it's included or not.
2)Contact your provider and ask them.
Many troubles can come up in the absence of DOC, which includes receiving an IN10 conviction. Taking an example under consideration, that involves getting confronted by the law, which can probably mean getting caught by the police while driving the other car or let's say, you go through an accident, such situations are a source of serious troubles. Why? because if you don’t have a DOC, the law won't let you go without charging you for not having an insurance ‘ which as mentioned before, means receiving an IN10 conviction. According to Gov.UK, this is 6-8 points, which is more than enough to cancel your license, especially if you're a new driver i.e you have just been driving for a period of 2 years or less.
The bad news is that this conviction also includes a heavy fine of £300, plus, to worsen the situation, you may also get to pay another €1000 fine which is for the legal court case. So, considering all of this, not having a DOC can really create problems for you. Moreover, your conviction puts a bad impression on the insurers, so they would never cover drivers who have been convicted as they’ll always be afraid of being at a high risk of getting caught by the law. Your premium can easily get raised to a great extent, but at one condition: that is if you receive a ‘quote’ from an insurer.
